New for 2013 the 5V USB socket remains, but the DC port has been upgraded to 12V output, now allowing you to charge SLR camera batteries, portable DVD players and more directly from the unit - while remaining lightweight and compact enough for even the most space-savvy adventurer.  The 2013 model also includes a female in-car socket for use with in-car chargers.

The Powermonkey unit can be recharged three ways: using the universal mains charger, using the solar panel, or via USB.  When charging the LCD screen will be red, once fully charged the screen will turn green.  When the unit is in use, the screen will be blue.  Full recharge within 18-22 hours in optimum light conditions.  Use the solar panel to charge the Powermonkey unit while simultaneously charging devices.  Low static wastage means the unit can be left sitting for up to a year while maintaining 75% of a full charge!
