The 2009 Snow Donkey Race was tons of fun! Racers went hard over a 33-40 km race course that had them running, biking, snowshoeing, orienteering, and cross country skiing.

The Snow Donkey Race is a race designed to introduce participants to the art of being self-sufficient and safe while participating in winter activities. Being in an urban setting, the race was staged at Fort Whyte Alive in Winnipeg and activities were intended to simulate back country activities whenever possible.

Here's how the race broke down:

  • Run: 300 m
  • Winter Bike: 8.0 km
  • Snowshoe: 2.5 km
  • Orienteer: 2.5 km
  • Winter Bike: 8.0 km
  • Cross Country Ski: 7.0 km per lap (advanced course did the lap twice)
  • Toboggan to the finish line!

We would like to thank all the participants and volunteers who came out to make this first annual Snow Donkey Adventure Race a huge success!!
