Day Hike Packing Checklist
 Our packing lists are designed to be thorough - you should always consider your specific trip plans and weather and add or remove items as necessary.  If you'd like advice on what to pack for a specific trip, feel free to stop by any store location and speak to our staffers!
Essentials
  - Trip plan left with someone back home
  - Map
  - Compass
 
- Flashlight / Headlamp with spare batteries
  - Lighter / firestarter
  - Matches in a waterproof container
 
- First Aid kit
  - Sunglasses
  - Sunscreen
  - Knife or multitool
  - Emergency contact device (Cell, satellite phone, SPOT)
 
- Any necessary permits
  
 Clothing
  - Hiking boots or shoes
  - Gaiters
 
- Wool socks and liners
  - Base layers

  - Short sleeved shirt (not cotton)
 
- Long sleeved shirt (for bugs/sun)
  - Insulation appropriate for the weather (At least a midlayer, possibly toque, mitts, jacket)
